HMSDC will kick off Day 1 of Texas’ largest minority business trade-fair with a dynamic keynote address. Get energized and learn how your business can Reimagine. Reinvent. Rebuild. Paula Harris, President of DPM, a minority-owned company and former energy executive will share insights from both sides of the table. The Rigel Awards bring exhibitors together with general attendees to receive recognition for their continued support and contribution to the development of minority businesses. The Rigel Awards are HMSDC’s most prestigious awards that recognize corporations that are setting new standards and establishing best practices for corporate supplier diversity programs and MBEs who are providing best-in-class service to their corporate customers.

Experience how HMSDC and the Houston Business Journal are driving thought leadership and discussing business growth trends. This session will feature a regional economic outlook from Daron Peschel, Senior Vice President in Charge of the Houston Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. Daron is the highest-ranking official for the federal reserve in Houston. Additionally, Biz Talk connects you with leaders and information needed to understand how to best position your business for growth. Hear from Henry Childs, CEO of the NMSDC Business Consortium Fund and learn about how HMSDC through our national organization can assist MBEs can access to investment and working capital.

1:55 PM – 3:55 PM                      One-to-One Sessions

Recognized by MBEs and exhibitors as one of the most effective additions to EXPO. One-to-One Sessions allow exhibitors to identify in advance products/services for which they are seeking immediately or over the next 6-12 months. HMSDC will then seek MBE suppliers and schedule 15 minute one-to-one meetings.

HMSDC will kick off Day 2 of Texas’ largest minority business trade-fair with a dynamic interview with Shay Gillespie of World Wide Technology, the country’s largest minority-owned technology company and co-chair for EXPO 2021. The Power Hour Luncheon is a great way for EXPO attendees to conclude the formal business of EXPO by engaging in dialogue regarding economic and civic advocacy for communities of color. Last year, we discussed the need for disparity studies across our public institutions, how they impact MBEs and why both corporations and MBEs should care. This Year, we will expand the discussion to learn about what is being done to address the economic disparities identified by the studies and the growth opportunities it presents for MBEs across the greater Houston area. Join us for a riveting discussion with County Commissioner, Precinct 2, Adrian Garcia and METRO Board Member and HMSDC certified MBE, Troi Taylor of Taylor Construction Management.
